Measles Outbreak – Updated Clinic Entry Policy
Due to a recent measles outbreak in Alberta, we have implemented additional precautions to keep all patients—especially infants, pregnant individuals, and immunocompromised people—safe.
Do NOT present to the clinic if you have had any of the following symptoms for fewer than 7 days:
-
Cough
-
Sore throat
-
Fever
-
Runny nose
-
Rash
You may only enter the clinic once it has been at least 7 days since your symptoms began.
A measles rash typically appears 3–7 days after the initial cold-like symptoms, meaning individuals may be contagious before the rash appears. For this reason, the minimum 7-day waiting period is required before coming in.

If a rash develops after the above symptoms:
-
Do not visit the clinic, a walk-in clinic, or a hospital unless it is an emergency.
-
Self-isolate at home.
-
Call HealthLink 811 for further assessment and coordination of measles testing.
Masking Reminder
Masking is always required for anyone with cold or flu symptoms.
Thank you for your cooperation in protecting vulnerable members of our community.
